Welcome to Catahoula Cabin. This cabin is surrounded by beautiful hardwoods, and nestled on the hills above Lake Lure. It's perfect for those who want to get away and reconnect with each other. The log cabin welcomes you with a relaxing environment that will help you get into the vacation mindset.

The main floor features a kitchen equipped with a gas stove, a dining room that seats six, a half-bath conveniently located, a living area with high ceilings, gas logs and a television. This level also includes a bedroom with TV, a full bath and a king-sized bed. The upper level includes a bedroom that has a king-size bed, a bathroom with a shower in the hallway, and two bedrooms with queen-sized beds.

Enjoy your morning coffee or tea while the sun filters through the trees that surround the back deck. Bird songs fill the air as the creek rumbles along. A wood-burning fireplace & a small stream are available for your enjoyment. If you want to go on an adventure, head to Lake Lure’s 3-acre public white sand beaches to rent a paddle board or kayak, or just relax in the sun. Burntshirt Vineyards & Bistro is a great place to enjoy a meal while admiring the view of Chimney rock. Enjoy local wine and seasonal dishes. You can spend time browsing the shops in Chimney Rock's main street, stopping by the Hickory Nut Gorge Brewery to try a local brew or Coffee On the Rocks to enjoy a berry smoothie or an almond milk latte or John Bull Trading Co. to taste the best fudge. Chimney Rock State park is a great place for those who enjoy hiking. You can climb the 100+ stairs to the top or take the brand new elevator.

Enjoy a delicious dinner at LakeHouse Restaurant Bar & Grille. Order a platter for the table, which includes crab stuffed mushroom, spinach dip, or BBQ wings. Enjoy a juicy steak on a bed made of onion straws, or the local Blue Ridge Mountain Trout with pecan crust. After a day of adventure and delicious food, you can relax in the cabin with board games and a movie on the cable.

Spend one of your days in Catahoula Cabin exploring the vibrant downtown food and arts scene. Asheville is only an hour away. Spend a morning strolling through the gardens and grounds at the Biltmore Estate. This historic home has award-winning gardens, amazing architecture and is a place of beauty. You can either dine in one of the Estate's restaurants or return to Asheville and dine at a James Beard nominated restaurant. You'll always find delicious food and amazing flavors, no matter where you choose to eat. Relax your tired feet on a tube and float down the French Broad River in the summer.

You will have full access to Rumbling Bald Resort, located only 10 minutes away. This resort offers a North Shore Beach Cabana, a marina where you can paddleboard, kayak, or pontoon boats on the water, as well as tennis courts, pickleball and hiking and biking trails. It also has an adventure camp for kids ages 6-18. Even on rainy days, you can still enjoy all the resort amenities. Rumbling Bald offers a variety of shops, restaurants, spas, salons, fitness centers, and an indoor pool. This premier resort has something for the whole family!

Catahoula Cabin can be found in Lake Lure. This home is located approximately 15 minutes from Lake Lure, 25 to downtown Chimney rock, 35 to Rutherfordton and 40 to Tryon.

AREA WIDE NOTE: Lake Lure is undergoing a drawdown beginning January 1, 2024 and lasting through the first quarter (March 31, 2024). The lake will be lowered approximately 1 foot per a day until it reaches 12 feet. During this time, infrastructure maintenance, dredging and dam projects will be accelerated. These efforts by the town of Lake Lure could affect the access to the lake or restrict any lake use. Click here for more information. The lake is expected to return to normal levels in mid-late April. We understand that this is an inconvenience but it allows you to enjoy Lake Lure's full beauty during the holiday season and fall. This will not affect smaller lakes in the region, only Lake Lure.

All of our vacation rentals are smoke-free. Parking 2-3 vehicles. Check-in is at 4:00 pm local time, or any time after. Check-out is at 10:00 a.m. local or earlier.
