The Bear's Den, a beautiful log house located on the east side of Lake Lure in a private neighborhood. The peaceful, wooded setting is just a short walk from a quiet cove of Lake Lure where you can swim or fish. This destination will create cherished family memories that you can cherish for years to come. The ramp is wide enough for a wheelchair to be able to access the home from the parking lot. This home is 6.5 mile to the Beach at Lake Lure and 7.9 mile to Chimney rock State Park. It is 18.2 miles from the Tryon International Equestrian Center.

If you are planning to spend a weekend at the lake, Lake Lure Beach and Marina is not far from the cabin. Chimney Rock State Park, which has scenic trails and is less than ten minutes away, is a great place to spend a day.

Worthy of Log Home MagazineThe two-story great-room features beautiful wood floors and a stone fireplace with gas logs that reaches to the ceiling. It is furnished with locally-crafted log furniture.

The king-sized suite features a rocking bed, charming decorative accents and a sliding glass door leading to the covered deck. Start your day with a cup of coffee on the porch swing. The adjoining ceramic-tiled bathroom has a corner jetted bathtub for a relaxing soak at the end of a long day of hiking, fishing, kayaking, or swimming. This home includes 2 kayaks!

The two additional bedrooms are a great addition to the house. Each bedroom has sliding doors leading out onto the deck. The one bedroom has a queen-sized bed and the other two twin beds. A full bath (tub/shower combo) is nearby.

The living room has stairs that lead to a cozy loft. It is equipped with a queen-sized futon, Cable television, and a gaming table. This loft is perfect for quiet reading or board games.

The front of the cabin is surrounded by covered porches, and the large glass doors and windows provide a soothing view of the woods. The cabin also has a screened-in porch and a back deck where guests can enjoy their breakfast while listening to the sounds of nature. A new fire pit is sure to be popular. Beautiful winter views of Lake Lure and a new fire pit area add to the enjoyment.

Conveniently LocatedThe Bear's Den can be found just minutes away from Lake Lure Beach and Chimney Rock State park. National Geographic Magazine ranked Lake Lure as one of the most scenic lakes in the entire world. Water sports (kayaks and wakeboards) are available for rent. There are pontoon tours on the lake.

Budget Travel magazine's Sept/Oct issue 2012 featured the iconic Chimney rock, after which both the village and State Park were named. The park was awarded the Platinum Award for Favorite State Park by Blue Ridge Country in its 2013 Best of the Mountains Travel Poll, which covers seven southern states and the Appalachian Mountains. Voting is done every five years. Nearby are several excellent golf courses, including Apple Valley Golf Course and Bald Mountain Golf Course. Etowah Valley Country Club & Golf Resort was rated by Golf Digest as one of the 50 best golf destinations in the US.

If you like scenic drives, take Alt 74 out of Lake Lure (the curvy Memorial Highway), through Chimney rock Village, Bat Cave and Gerton. Then, continue on to Asheville, where you will find the Blue Ridge Parkway, which many people consider the most beautiful road in the United States. This road is a must-see if you haven't been. The parkway was featured in an episode of Norman Reedus' AMC TV show Ride with Norman, Season 1 Episode 3, which aired in 2016. Maggie Valley is located just 1.25 hours away and five miles from the parkway. It's home to the Wheels Through Time Transportation Museum, which features American motorcycles, memorabilia and a unique array of one-off American cars.

This home is located centrally, just 15 minutes away from Bat Cave, 35 from Hendersonville and 50 from Asheville. Charlotte, North Carolina is about 2 hours away. Pisgah National Forest is also nearby (less than an hour from Lake Lure), with its over 500,000 protected acres, and DuPont State Recreational Forest is located 1.25 hours from Lake Lure. These forests offer hundreds of miles worth of hiking, cycling, and horse trails. They also have beautiful mountaintop views and waterfalls. The Pisgah Forest is a great place to visit if you or your children are fans The Hunger Games. A scene with Katniss, Gale and other characters was filmed there. A few small, but significant scenes have also been filmed in the DuPont State Recreative Forest.

Lake Lure/Chimney Rock offers a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, horseback riding, tubing and water sports. There are also museums, theaters, the Biltmore Estate, restaurants, shopping and more. AREA WIDE NOTE: Lake Lure is undergoing a drawdown beginning January 1, 2024 and lasting through the first quarter (March 31, 2024). The lake will be lowered approximately 1 foot a day until it reaches 12 feet. During this time, infrastructure maintenance, dredging and dam projects will be accelerated. These efforts by the town of Lake Lure could affect the access to the lake or restrict any lake use. Click here for more information. The lake is expected to return to normal levels in mid-late April. We understand that this is an inconvenience but it allows you to enjoy Lake Lure's full beauty during the holiday season and fall. This will not affect smaller lakes in the region, only Lake Lure.

All of our vacation rentals are smoke-free. Parking for three or four (3-4) cars. Wheelchair ramp from home. Check-in is at 4:00 pm local time or later. Check-out is at 10:00 am local time.
