Salmon Run

We do charge a fee of seventy five dollars per pet.

Looking for a romantic getaway? Make your way to Salmon Run, a luxurious vacation home that features great amenities, a spacious kitchen, and breathtaking views of Noyo Harbor and the Pacific Ocean. You won’t have to swim upstream to enjoy your vacation at this fully renovated historic treasure.

During the height of the salmon industry, the building that is now the Salmon Run operated as a cannery, and fishermen would gather here to trade their fresh fish for an equal weight of already-canned salmon. At the time, salmon were plentiful, even near the river mouth, so fishermen didn’t have to go far to find their supper, and this bustling trade fed local families and visitors alike. Although the cannery is long-gone, the Salmon Run pays homage to the long heritage of salmon catching in the harbor.

Located next to a working pier offering a front-row seat to local fishing boats offloading their bountiful, fresh catch, the Salmon Run features a two-story setup with a downstairs kitchen, an upstairs bedroom, and the best of both worlds: a convenient location that provides a refuge from the hustle and bustle of ordinary life. You’ll enjoy privacy when you’re home, but when you’re ready to go out, you’ll relish the close proximity of world-class restaurants serving the freshest seafood you could dream of. (If you’re not a seafood fan, you’ll have your choice of award-winning dishes from top chefs working with the best local ingredients.)

For those who have more culinary know-how, the fully equipped kitchen will call your name. The layout will give you ample room to create your masterpieces, and the four-top stove is at your service. Dazzle and delight for a quiet night in with a delicious home-cooked meal, or fuel your adventures with fresh meals and snacks you’ve prepped for the road.

For outdoor excursions, you have your pick of the numerous trails and activities along the coast. You’ll want to set aside some time to explore a multitude of wonders, from pristine beaches to towering redwoods to secluded waterfalls. Every state park offers its own charm, from Russian Gulch to Jug Handle to MacKerricher. If you prefer smooth sailing, check out one of the paved trails, such as the North and South Coastal Trails or Pomo Park -- or set your course north to MacKerricher’s famous boardwalk, where you’ll spot seals, sea lions, and tide pools. Beach days await at Pudding Creek or Big River. Or take the Skunk Train for a trip back in time -- and to the heart of the redwoods. The possibilities are endless!

Need gifts for friends or family -- or yourself? Head to downtown Fort Bragg and explore everything the town has to offer. Within a couple of blocks, you can browse quirky and joyful socks, peruse used and new books, visit galleries featuring talented local artists, or find your new favorite fashion. In the Depot Mall, you’ll find everything from jewelry to shoes to baby clothes, as well as the delightful desserts of Laurel’s Deli. Come for the cookies, stay for the trains and history. Of course, we won’t tell if you end up taking an impromptu dessert tour instead…

Post-excursion, kick back and avail yourself of the flatscreen TV or watch the sky come alive with color as the sun sets over the harbor. In the evenings, you can rest easy, knowing your journey is complete for the day. Snuggle into the comfy king bed and sleep well. Whatever plans you hatch at the Salmon Run, you’ll feel refreshed and energized as you set out on your next trek!

About the history of salmon in Noyo Harbor – from the locals who lived it

Commercial salmon fishing began in the Noyo Harbor in about 1916. The fish were sold whole & uncleaned for cat food only. Human consumption of salmon started years later.

Founded in the late 1940s, Sportsman’s RV Park was the first sport center for salmon fishing in the harbor. Founded by Ray Welsh and 3 others, it was open from June through September and very lively and active throughout, packed with all forms of current-model tiny RVs and pickups. 16’ and 18’ fishing boats were made on site and could be rented along with a 6hp motor.

At the time, there was no need to go far out to sea to catch salmon -- they were abundant near the river mouth. Fishermen would bring the fresh salmon back to the building called the “Cannery” (now the Salmon Run), where they would trade the fresh fish for canned salmon.

There were also a smoke house and other related building facilities on site to go along with the fishing and camping. Fresh water was obtained from a secret tap into the city water that the city knew about but could not find. Through the years, the piers and docks grew with the fishing trade, and they were always packed with boats.

Note on the bathroom - There is one bathroom in the house which is upstairs in the master bedroom. That means that anyone staying in the house that needs to use the bathroom will have to get there by going through the master bedroom. Mendocino has some very unusual designs and this is a great example of that .

We've stayed in Noyo Harbor before, but Salmon Run has been our favorite place so far! The view upstairs is incredible - we enjoyed watching both seals & sea lions swim by, and we spent many afternoons taking in the sunset. Our dog, Rigby, loved the convenient walk to the dog beach, and we loved the convenient walk to many nearby restaurants. Fort Bragg is one of our favorite places for a quick vacation, and we're looking forward to staying in Salmon Run again!

We absolutely love staying down at the harbor. Salmon run is the 2nd place weve rented through Pacific Blue and we will never stay any where else when we come over to Fort Bragg. All the places Pacific Blue has in the harbor are absolutely amazing and Carlon is so great to deal with and friendly, he responds fast to anything that comes up , Sherri the head house keeper is amazing and I enjoyed talking with her daily, the houses are always spotless and well stocked with what you need for your stay. Everything is just amazing. We love our stays there. Wish we could go more often.

Salmon Run was perfect for our long weekend getaway. The house is well-maintained and clean. We liked having the privacy of "our" own quiet place while also being close to Ft. Bragg. Our favorite part of the house was the large upstairs window with a fantastic view of the mouth of Noyo Harbor! We enjoyed sipping our coffee while watching sea lions and sea birds playing and hunting in the water. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again on our next visit!

Pacific Blue was just the place I needed for a short getaway to Fort Bragg. It was a great home base for quick walks to spots in the harbor--Noyo Harbor Inn for a happy-hour cocktail with river views, Sea Pal Cove for wonderful fish/shrimp and chips with friendly folks by the fire pit, divine blackened cod at Princess Seafood about two dozen steps from the front door, and a river kayak outing from Epic Graphics. Seriously, all within a five-minute walk! And you're steps away from a somewhat hidden stair that shortcuts the harbor road and gets you onto the main drag toward downtown, where Cowlick's Ice Cream, North Coast Brewing, and other delights await. A quick drive gets you to Mendocino to enjoy all it has to offer without paying a premium to stay in its confines. If you're like me and looking to enjoy the best restaurants on the harbor (such as those named above), check schedules as many are closed midweek. The place was well-appointed and hosts were friendly and responsive. Very spacious and set up for a comfortable extended stay, though with all there is to do you might only find yourself making use of the bed before you're back out on your next adventure!

We all loved Salmon Run, and had a delightful stay in September, 2022 Its very comfortable, is pet-friendly, and has everything we needed. We loved the second-floor views of Noyo harbor meeting the ocean. Great sunsets! The sunny back porch is just large enough for two people to sit and have coffee. There is interesting marine art and crafts on all the walls, a custom-built bookcase, and a convenient bench out front. It's been fascinating to be in a busy harbor with commercial and sport fishing. We enjoyed unbelievably fresh red rock cod fish and chips, and fish tacos, at Noyo Fish Co. At night, we watched DVDs in the second-floor sitting room. The fridge, stove, microwave, coffee station, utensils, pots, pans, dishes, and kitchen tools are great. Safeway is so close that its easy to pick up anything you need, even if you arrive late. We cooked some of our meals, and the dishwasher and double sink made cleanup easy. There are linens for the pull-out couch and master bed, and extra throws in a chest upstairs. (Note that if you have three or more separate adults, you may need to bring an inflatable mattress and extra bed linens.) There is a lot to do in Fort Bragg. We explored Glass Beach, had great coffee at Headlands cafe, rented a two-person kayak at Liquid Fusion (six minutes away), got an introduction to riding horses at Ricochet Ridge Ranch (twelve minutes away), enjoyed the Mendocino Botanical Gardens (five minutes away). We strongly recommend Piaci Pizza for their thin crust and fresh ingredients. We also spent a couple of afternoons and mornings in the many shops, the Good Life Cafe, bookstore, headlands, and on the beaches of the town of Mendocino, just 15 minutes down Highway 1.

What an amazing experience this spot is. Tucked away in the shared parking lot of the Seafood Princess and Sportmans RV Park Gallery, the Salmon Run is a two floor oasis in the Noyo Harbor area just south of Fort Bragg. The harbor is bustling with local and tourist action, but inside of the Salmon Run it is quiet and peaceful. Every nook and cranny of this place is beautifully decorated for the Pacific Northwest. It isnt over done at all, which allows the resident to casually experience each individual piece as their time in the home goes on. As you enter there is a small foyer, then seating area with pull out sofa and seating area. Nice sized kitchen table for meals, games and puzzles. Fully stocked kitchen and then a half bath with toilet and sink. Walking upstairs there is a second living room with seats facing the Noyo Bridge with views to watch boats coming in and out of the harbor. Sunsets are amazingly gorgeous. We spent a lot of time sipping coffee or listening to audiobooks just watching the harbor action from this vantage point. There is a back stoop that has a screen door which allows a beautiful cross breeze. The bedroom has the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. If you are taller than five foot five, be mindful that the ceiling is sloped. If you are not able to remember, maybe sleep downstairs. The bathroom is fully stocked and the shower has good pressure and temperature. The best part of this spot is the personality of the home with decorating, and the ambiance of the harbor itself. All of the food places were delicious! Highly recommend Princess Seafood, Noyo Grill and Pal Cove. Drive into town to get ice cream at Cowlick! Even though the harbor is bustling, including live music at times, the Salmon Run itself is quiet and calm. A wonderful combination for mixed introvert/extravert families like ours. We brought our two dogs and they had a blast! Very doggie friendly, a good walking area including an easy walk to the beach, just be mindful no sidewalk. There is no enclosed yard, so dont forget your leash.

We loved this unit. Very clean, comfortable and exceptionally well equipped - nicest AirBnB kitchen we have experienced. Interesting location - right down in the harbor, overlooking a working pier and the mouth of the Noyo River. Very good restaurants within easy walking distance. If you have travel plans to Fort Bragg definitely try and book this unit.

Salmon Run is an absolute gem! The view from the upstairs living area is spectacular, and we loved how comfy the bedroom was. Some of the best nights sleep ever! Its located so conveniently to the Harbor the beach restaurants shops, and just a short drive to other attractions like downtown, skunk train, glass beach, etc. Carlon was amazing. We didnt need much because the place had everything, but when I reached out, he was responding almost immediately. Thank you! We will definitely be back.

This is our 1st stay and I cant say enough about this place or about the manager Carlon who was helpful and friendly, while I planned a last minute weekend trip. The views are amazing and the place is clean, well equipped, relaxing, and the bed was beyond comfortable (I am actually considering ordering the same mattress for my house). We come a several times a year and usually stay in Mendocino but this location is surrounded by everything you could need all within walking distance so it was perfect. It was great for our dogs because we could tire them out at dog beach which borders the harbor. Thanks for everything, we will be back!

The views were stunning and communicating with Carlon was such a pleasure. We look forward to being back!

What a fun little rental!! Smack dab in the middle of working Noyo Harbor right next to the river. Home is immaculate & well decorated. Kitchen was fully furnished. Huge & soft king bed upstairs was super comfy. Views from upstairs living room was superb- the mouth of the river leading out to the ocean. Gorgeous especially at sunset. If youre going to go in the winter I would recommend asking Pacific Blue to turn on all the heaters some hours before you check in. The wall heaters & electric fireplace work great once they have a chance to get warmed up. Interesting location - great fun. Had a wonderful time!
