Other Activities and Interests:
There’s plenty to do – and the ocean, too – all within 12 miles.
For entertainment, catch a first-run movie at the AMC Cineplex, with 3D and jumbo digital screens. Superplay USA entertainment center has state-of-the-art bowling lanes, laser tag, indoor miniature golf and outdoor batting cages. Go Cosmic Bowling on Friday and Saturday nights and bowl on glow in the dark lanes enhanced by digital lighting displays and heart-pounding music. Superplay USA also has a giant arcade with awesome prizes.
After an action-packed afternoon or evening, check out Duffy’s Sports Grill, with large-screen TV’s tuned to action-packed sports games. Duffy’s is known for their hamburgers, barbeque baby back ribs and jumbo chicken wings. Their original “Drafthouse” salad is another favorite.
Port St. Lucie’s newest attraction is Escape Room PSL. Players must solve a puzzle using clues and strategy to escape their chosen setting within a prescribed time. Each room features a unique theme, challenge and props. If you’re looking for something more physical, Flying Panda Extreme Sports’ grid features more than 60 trampolines, including angled wall trampolines. You can swing from a trapeze, dive into a foam ball pit, climb a rock wall, and complete an “American Ninja Warrior”-style obstacle course.
For something out of the ordinary, the Treasure Coast Model Railroad Club, located on Becker Road off of I-95 (about 11 miles away), opens the doors to their miniature world of 1,900 square feet of track running through pint-sized towns populated by children, adults and animals in a variety of landscapes. Check out the cloud that produces lightning and thunder whenever a train approaches. Visit Tuesdays from 7:00 to 9:00 pm or Saturdays 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Interested in the Treasure Coast’s unique environment? Explore “the real Florida” at Oxbow Eco-Center. Oxbow, located 7.5 miles away, is a 225-acre preserve consisting of forest, scrub, pine flatwoods, primordial swamps and wetlands on the North Fork of the St. Lucie River. Visit the “green building” Discovery Center to learn about habitats and their inhabitants and the rich biodiversity of the Indian River Lagoon. Then choose a trail to view nature first-hand.
Want to see what some of the first pioneers found when travelling through? Savannas Preserve State Park is a great choice for hiking and birding. Savannas Preserve State Park is the largest remnant of freshwater marshes that once extended along Florida’s southeast coast. Here you can find sandhill cranes, Florida scrub jays, gopher tortoises and American alligators. The Savannas Education Center has exhibits, self-guided tour booklets, a gift shop and information on other Florida State Parks.
Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens, though formal, features 10 gardens, including a palm garden, hibiscus garden, orchid room and even a secret garden. The Botanical Gardens are situated on the North Fork of the St. Lucie River in a section once known as Moonraker Bay, named for the James Bond movie boat chase filmed nearby on the river in 1979.
Cruise the North Fork of the St. Lucie River on the River Lilly, the longest running eco-tour boat on the river. What’s just around the bend? Captain Eddie and First Mate Stephanie Hamrick promise lots of surprises. Tours depart from River Park Marina off Prima Vista Boulevard (about 6.5 miles away) and reservations are required.
Of course, many visitors come to play golf at PGA Golf Club, which is adjacent to Perfect Drive Vacation Rentals at PGA Village. Rated among the top, three 18 hole championship golf courses designed by Tom Fazio and Pete Dye challenge even the most experienced players. But first hone your skills at the nearby PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance, owned and operated by the PGA of America. The 35-acre instruction and practice park has more than 100 full-swing practice stations, bunkers, pitching and chipping practice areas, USGA putting greens, and more. The Learning Center combines on-course instruction, golf-specific technology, practical application and specialized club and equipment fittings.
With the Atlantic Ocean a mere 10 miles away, you can join a deep sea fishing charter, ride the waves on a jet ski, explore local waterways scuba diving or snorkeling, or even go horseback riding on the beach.
At the end of the day, return to your Perfect Drive Vacation Rental and relax at the pool or on your porch.
