Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands are located in the Caribbean Sea and consist of three islands. Grand Cayman is the largest, at 20 miles long and four to seven miles wide. Christopher Columbus during his fourth and final voyage to the New World discovered the islands and named them Las Tortugas after the large number of sea turtles observed there. Sir Francis Drake would later name the islands "Cayman" after caiman, word for alligator.  The Cayman Islands are now a British colony.
